[ TRAINING ] A few external training courses, of potential interest to CKA students…

As explained by Dave Davenport Sensei previously, CKA Students are welcome (and also encouraged !) to attend external courses, as they offer great opportunities to benchmark one’s level against others’, learn and exchange. Whilst the CKA strives to invite renowed karateka every year, there are also many clubs and associations across the country (but also in the vicinity) offering the possibility to train with famous karateka. Accordingly, we have listed below some training courses that might be of interest to you, which are due to take place over the coming weeks or months… Make sure to keep your instructor in the loop, as he or she might be able to advise on the best way to proceed !

 – Watanabe Sensei (JKS Honbu Dojo) will be in attendance at the JKS Harrow-on-the-Hill dojo on the 28th of April 2020, between 6pm and 9pm. Watanabe Sensei is a current middle-weight world champion and will be teaching 2 hours of kata and 1 hour of kumite. For details, please contact Shyam Raithatha Sensei on 07888696713 or via Messenger on Facebook. CKA members attended JKS seminars in Harrow and had a great time ! Highly recommended…

 – Dave Hazzard Sensei was due to teach in Hemel Hampstead on the 28th of March 2020, in 3 x 1-hour sessions (£15 per session or £40 for the full 3 hours) from 1pm onwards. Unfortunately the course has now been cancelled. For full details and to enquire about resheduling, go to the SSKI website or please contact [email protected].

 – Rick Hotton and Scott Langley will be teaching together under the HDKI banner, on the 13th of September 2020, in Basingstoke. Scott has taught the CKA on many occasions in Holmer Green, with a general focus on the understanding of biomechanics to use one’s body to its maximum efficiency when striking or transitioning. Rick embodies the contemporary search for harmony in body, mind, and spirit and his seminars are absolutely captivating. Highly recommended again, but do remember that 13th of September is CKA Grading day so check with your instructor beforehand !… Information about the course and contact details are available here.

Matt Price (JKS 6th dan) will be teaching at the JKS Harrow dojo on the 25th of October. Matt visited us last year in Holmer Green and gave us a captivating insight into sport karate. A must – unless of course he visits the CKA back…  For details, please contact Shyam Raithatha Sensei on 07888696713 or via Messenger on Facebook.

Ian Campbell (JKS 7th dan) will be visiting the JKS Harrow dojo on the 24th of May 2020… For details, please contact Shyam Raithatha Sensei on 07888696713 or via Messenger on Facebook.

 – Lastly, Iain Abernethy Sensei will be teaching  in several locations across the south of England between now and the end of the year, including in April in Waltham Cross. His seminars are always enticing and full of anecdots, with a strong focus on Bunkai. For details and contact information, please visit Iain’s web site.
